Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • The Deputy Area Coordinator must have the ability to balance and effectively address internal organizational management challenges and close liaising with external stakeholders to shape a forward-looking programmatic and strategic direction.

As such key responsibilities will include:

Programs Management

i. Internally

  • Implementation and follow up of all program activities in South Sindh;
  • Ensure completion and regular (weekly) update of PMF for projects implemented;
  • Ensure effective integration and mainstreaming of gender into all programs;
  • Build and/or improve systems to supervise and manage the implementation, monitoring, learning and evaluation of program;
  • Collect project information and give feedback to the ACTED Country Coordination as well as to the local donors;
  • Manage human and material sources within program in an efficient way;
  • Administer program budgets and evaluate program financial effectiveness.

ii. Externally

  • Liaise with local donors and the local authorities for the program;
  • Produce all reporting requirements for the programs;
  • Participate in fundraising and proposal writing for expansion of ACTED programmatic activities in the area.
FLAT (Finance,Logistics,Administration ,Transparencys & Security) Management:

  • Closely supervise and monitor the work of finance, administration and logistics;
  • Manage office and national staff;
  • Set up and follow up of weekly FLAT meetings;
  • Supervision of FLAT system and procedures within the base and building of strong communication with Islamabad FLAT team for better implementation of system;
  • Respect ACTED FLAT system and provide all FLAT documents for Islamabad FLAT team and Coordination review on time.
General Management:
  • Chair the base Weekly and monthly Coordination meetings and share the minutes of meeting with Islamabad office;
  • Liaise with ACTED Islamabad office for any base issue such as security or administrative related;
  • Build a strong team to manage and run base properly;
  • Liaise with government authorities, donor and NGOs and coordinate base activities;
  • Strong communication with ACTED national staff and transfer their requirements and suggestions on time to ACTED Islamabad office.

III. Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must have:
  • 5+ years of field experience in project management of emergency and relief programs preferably large programmes;
  • Preferably previous experience as Base Manager or Area Coordinator managing a large base;
  • Strong educational background in development studies, agriculture and/ community mobilization or any related field;
  • Solid experience in working with WASH, FSL, DRR and nutrition related projects;
  • Solid experience in working with community-based institutions and capacity-building programmes;

· Ability to manage a large team and demonstrate leadership by bringing a geographically scattered team around a same vision and developing programmatic quality standards across regions;

· Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment;

· Familiarity with the aid system, and ability to interface with donors, local authorities and community leaders;

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;

· Commitment to gender equity, and passion for development an absolute requirement;

· Excellent skills in written and spoken English and Urdu; Ability to communicate in Sindhi a plus;

· Ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel and Project Management software a requirement.
