Program Background Summary: Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) is five years USAID funded project starting June 2013 with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education (DoE) throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of at least 1.3 million children in grade one and two. The goal will be supported by three interrelated components including improved classroom learning environment for reading, improve policies and systems for reading and community based support for reading in Pakistan. The anticipated results include 23,800 teachers in 23,800 public schools with improved skills in teaching reading, 3,649 scholarships for ADE and B.Ed. (Hons.) students, mobile bus libraries reaching out to 300 communities.
Job Overview/Summary
A major part of the project’s work involves the development and creation of new training material, modules, activity books, scripted lesson plans and workbooks for teachers and trainers in educational institutions across Pakistan. The project requires the services of a typist who will work with the material development team to type out all the material in Brahvi language software, which can then be used for designing and printing these publications. The typist should ideally have good typing speed in Brahvi, Urdu and English as well as at least two years of practical experience. Individuals who have previously worked on publications or those who are familiar with USAID branding guidelines will be given preference.
Services Required:
The consultant typist, while working closely with PRP HQ material development team, is expected to do the following:
· Typing of text books, enlisting of frequency of letter, syllable etc.,
· Format documents especially in MS Word
· Work with the material development team for the best solutions to ensure high quality publications
· Ensure task prioritization and meet deadlines
· Editing and proof reading drafts of the documents
· Able to type 500-600 pages in the month

Education:
Minimum qualification: Intermediate/12 years of education or equivalent. Graduates will be preferred.
Work Experience:
Have at least 2 years of experience with a renowned organization. Experience with USAID projects will be preferred.
The candidate should have his/her own laptop to complete the requirement
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
· Ability to type at a moderate speed in Brahvi and an average speed in Urdu
· Knowledge and understanding of using other MS office and In-Design, etc.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Certificates or Licenses:
· Use of computer, internet and MS Office package
· Excellent skills of formatting in MS Word- Brahvi/English/Urdu
· Typing in Brahvi font using MS Office and Diacritics-Aeraab in Brahvi
Payment terms:
· Payment shall be made at the end of month upon completion of all services required mentioned above.
